The Pickle And The Cucumber
Poem By Bill Simmons
The Pickle said to the Cucumber
Would you just look what they did to me
I was minding mine when they plucked me from my vine
Then threw me in this jar with all this company
They must think that we can swim
It’s been quite rough my friend
But before they put the lid on this jar
They stuff as many as they could get in
Then they sat us on this great big shelf
And this woman brought us here as so
Right away she took out Tom and Joe!
I could only sit here and watch them go
Why if I could grow me some arms and legs
And was as big as they are to me
It would be I having them in this jar
And I having them to eat!
Well, you see, said the Cucumber
In life, that’s just the way it is
You can only hope when they come with that fork
Your luck holds out when they miss!
