The Pictures Snap Quick

I can't be around you anymore
because everytime I see your eyes
I lose track of time
I stop where I stand
and recall the first time I saw you
and everytime I saw you there after
The pictures snap quick from one to the next
I watch as I gradually slipped into the shot
I see where I missed my chance
and where he took his
and now I can't see you without also seeing him

I can't be around you anymore
because everytime I see your eyes
I lose track of time
I seek a lonely chair
I turn off the lights
and close my eyes
the pictures snap quick
and then they cycle through again and again
until I drink them away

Sad, intense poem about lost love. Great work. Sincerely, Connie Webb
