The Poison Butterflies

Poem By Olivia Capulet

You laid your head upon my pillow
I stroked my fingers through your hair
You were dream bound, I was lovelorn
And we were not really there
I ran with you till morning
Picking flowers in the sky
Fleeing from the poison
Of a thousand butterflies
I laid with you forever
In the petals of a dream
Sunlight fills the best of us
With happiness and gleam
I opened my eyes that morning
And there was no one by my side
It’s only now I think to curse
Those poison butterflies.
