The Poor Kids

Poem By Reginald Goodridge

You know, I know a couple poor kids
the type that hang loose in the subway
getting molested
or even worse, dejected, arrested under by-ways

That's right, the poor kids
who never knew a daddy just big boys
older man's injustice
hapless women, foolish, restless, joys

And they bring the world right back
these poor kids,
reminiscent on the freedom this world lacks
they pay dues, and make news, but sing blues, just 'his'

... and all of my poor kids
