The Power

Poem By alex haywood

I gave you the power
to hurt me
you wasted no time
I put it in your palm willingly
I am to blame
Now like a fish on a line
I struggle
on how to take it back
the fact that I will
is unquestioned
how sad it is for us both
now I'll be reluctant
to relinquish it once more
and you will miss it
knowing you never will
feel the power
of holding my heart
in your palm again
