The Power Of The People

Poem By Nathaniel DeMay

We've made it to space
And deep undersea.
We should be moving forward,
Not left or right.
Food has blossomed,
Medicine has boomed.

With the power to heal
We only cause hurt.
Intentional or not
It's always there.

200 years ago we started
A revolution, a step toward freedom.
The irony is with all these
Activists- no one lifts a thumb.

GAY or straight, BLACK or white,
Tall or SHORT, slim or OBESE.
Now we are nothing but slaves
to ourselves: our hate, our fear.

Get over your differences,
You have no choice.

Because in the end we have the power
To destroy.
