The Red Oleanders

Passionate –
So full of life,
That to behold you,
My eyes drink the wine of youth.
Dazed I am
In a purple-stained dream
Where your intoxicating beauty
Has drowned me
In a rapture of euphoric vision.
What truth so dear,
So true you must know
That makes you live life
In a passion
Unknown to unhappy mortals.
What secret do you hold
In your dew-washed lips
That makes the fire in your heart
Glow so bright on your rosy cheeks.

Oh! God, if only we knew it,
If only we knew it –
