Poem By chetan vaishampayan
This is a description of the longing of the dry and estranged earth for her lover, that is, this year's rains to come and shower her with his love.
Through my hospital window,
I see last monsoon’s widow;
Longing to quench her thirst,
With the new monsoon’s first;
Asking every passing cloud,
About her lover’s whereabouts.
I observe everything with sad eyes,
And look upwards, only to find the mocking skies.
Jolted by the lightning’s might,
I wake up that night;
The fragrance of wet earth beckons me,
To come and see;
The reunision of the widow,
With her last year’s lost love.
