Poem By Matt Palmer
I was walking down a road
Not a new road, not an old road
Just a road
And as I was walking, I suddenly realized
I did not know where it was the road was taking me.
Well, that was no good
For if a person is to be taken
He ought to know where to.
So, I sat down on the road,
And tried thinking
But no thought occurred.
So I tried sitting down in the road and thinking
But still no thought occurred.
I was just about to give up
And go on my way, anyway, when suddenly
I decided to not let the road take me anywhere at all, but
To take the road instead.
Honestly, I still don’t have any idea where it is I’m going, but now
I’m in charge.
