The Shorter The Better
Poem By Jonathan Goldman a.k.a JGthepoet
The first poem my Father taught me,
Was the first poem he was taught,
It was by William Wordsworth,
It was very short.
He started me on poetry,
At the age of six,
With one he’d learnt at the same age,
Which within my Mind would stick.
‘My Heart Leaps Up’ was the poem,
It was one verse of just nine lines,
The line I always remember,
Is ‘The child is father of the man.’
When e’re I think upon it,
It reminds me of my Dad,
And how he started me on poetry,
And of that, I’m very glad.
