The Spider, The Fly And The Web

my lover has
loosened the knot,
the noose can longer choke
the very breath from out of me,
the same way it felt
when he made love to me

the spider, the fly and the web-
which am I?
The aggressor? The fool? or the stage?
upon which he'd write his plays
and act out scenes as though I meant more
than the damsel in distress or the vicious cycle of events-

my lover says:
' if we were only closer, we'd be closer'

What a moral of this poem-
mere hours make an impossible distance

the last line here is most provoking. time certainly can be a measure of distance between events, memories. huzzah! Jake
