The Spindles And The Spines
Do you remember the bare trees of winter,
whose limbs are sprawled naked entwined,
and can you recall now the cool sweat in summer,
or the seasons of your life left behind.
It seems to me that all you ever wanted
was to not endure the pain of time
and all of your short life, you sought to escape
from the sharp pains of the spindles and the spines.
So now you've gone ahead aways, and perhaps now you are free,
in a land beyond the living, and a land that's far from me,
I can only hope that pain is but a fading memory,
in the place that you are dwelling now, where ever that may be.
And I wish that I could see you,
sometimes wish that I could be you,
but apparently that wasn't meant to be.
You finally escaped your life of pain and time
You'll never love again, so your heart won't break
You freed yourself from the sharp pains of the spindles and the spines,
because living with them was more than you could take.
