Pillow Talk

Now that fortune smiles on us,
to cast us on a life, to share a pillow,
No more a guest in your dreams,
But to establish a firmer status- quo.

Flowers I sew on it, shall breathe
Their fragrance in your sleep.
Setting us sail, where the moon drips
into the silent sea, counting sheep,
Shimmering like knitted yarns.
Your whispers dark like the clouds
Behind which he hides, freeing
The red roses from their thorns.

The sewn colors disperse shadows
Like the dalliance of leopards.
You shall reign over it,
Only if I have your shoulder
To cushion my head.Like a queen.

The more creased end shall be mine,
From tossing and twisting, towing in step
To your each restless turn,
A lesson in confined space.
Without running out of patience or grace.

If my snores keep you awake,
a tug is all it takes, to set new rhythms
to languor’s wistful omissions.
Here your magnanimity may run out,
like the metrical distance in my lines

After a lover’s spat, if my snivels
Drive you to its edge.Cling on there!
For soon I shall hoist myself, over the edge
To seek solace in your arms.

Or if after a tiff, I nudge you off your end
Wait till my heart dissolves,
at your slightest discomfort.
If I roll off it, in the dead of sleep
Even a flattery may not wake me
I am a warrior, and you are my cause
Or the other way around? Surrendered ‘n asleep.
Just let me be.

Till we learn to wake to a perfect dawn,
Glowing deep red the tint of henna-early morn.
The darker the henna's shade,
the deeper are the passions we share.
