The Statue And The Elephant

looking at the statue in the cold…standing silent
with a frozen expression in the afternoon light.
staring… at the passer-byes whose
small banter breaks the silence
and caters to a mystery we don’t see.
we talk; talk about everything and nothing
with acuminous words intimate and insightful?
and the statue listens to the deafness no one hears…
small pockets of conscious wrapped around a big elephant.
that no one notices, but the statue… in silence…
listens…but no one hears…‘cept the elephant.
