The Strength Within Me
I can see the yellow rubber ball rolling toward me,
by Sarah Kalis
as eyes watch my every move.
Running like the wind, I can feel the cool breeze slapping against my cheeks.
My legs grow numb, shaky like Jell-o.
Not being able to control my actions, my mind goes blank.
Tears running down my face as I wonder where I could be,
comforting words come from a nearby paramedic.
I know I am safe.
I try wiping away the salty tears but my hands are tied tightly to my hips.
The voice says, 'We're almost there'.
I give a little smile, to show that I am strong.
