The Truth They Hide From You And Me
Poem By Riley Choma
Metal encapsulates my wrists like white ribbon binding my hands as if to say I surrender
Diction given to my ears tells me what I feel, because I can't express it myself.
They say I have the right to remain silent but really it's not so much a right as an order
Despite freedom of speech we lack the truth;
our words are taken and twisted as if to create underlying silence.
They lay down borders before my feet like walls that dictate what I can and can't see
It's the truth they hide from you and me.
