The Wolf And The Shepherd

The wolf beneath the tree
New gnawing at the shepherd's beating life
With jealous grin proclaims her faith untrue

The summer's passed
The tree has long since lost his royal mane
Since she has carved her loyalty into the bark

As winters go, the frost has strengthened anger
And he decides the fickle bride will need a bed
To give her rest beneath that tree forever
And make her dream of hearts forgot
