The Wolves Within

Poem By Lodigiana Poetess

We sit alone prepared to feast
no thought to who partakes,
ignoring battles fought within
creating more heartaches

And yet ‘alone', we never are.
Inside us battles roar.
Two wolves competing for our will
each enemies at war

Both strong and fierce with awesome might
Yet more diverse are they.
One wolf will whisper how you've failed
To make your critics pay

He stirs the anger kept within,
adds greed and envy to the pot.
Self pity and some arrogance
resentments not to be forgot

The other wolf is joy and faith,
compassion, love and peace
Benevolence and empathy,
goodwill that will not cease

Both hungry beasts await your will.
Decide which wolf you need.
For you alone dictates who dies
The one you chose… you feed.

Comments about The Wolves Within

An inherent dichotomy expressed beautifully and metaphorically by the two wolves. 'Both hungry beasts await your will. Decide which wolf you need. For you alone dictates who dies The one you chose… you feed' - loved the metaphor. Heartiest congratulations on your poem's selection as the 'Member Poem of the Day'!
In the cage of mind we foster two wolves- good and bad sometimes the goodness of mind becomes saint and sometimes the bad one becomes deviI the saintly wolf always does heroic deeds on this earth where struggle, war, sympathy, compassionate, humanity, philanthropy are existed the deviIish wolf always does satanic deeds on this earth where struggle, war, bIood, greed, embezzlement, extortion, hate, discrimination are existed
The other wolf is joy and faith, compassion, love and peace Benevolence and empathy, goodwill that will not cease .....it's an insightful tale; excellent theme of choice in challenging life; this poem also beautiful to read; congrats for being selected this beautiful poem as POD.....deserves 5*****
Simply spendid. A poet poeting well like a wolf in sheeps clothing killing us softly with her verses.
A beautifully crafted poem imbued with wisdom and a meaningful message. Congratulations!

Tomorrow's Yesterday

How soon today is yesterday
and tomorrow is today.
It seems that nothing's fixed in life
and soon all fades away.

All's Well

Starting afresh, eyes awake and squinting in the brilliance of morning sunshine.
Through the anonymity of darkness, sun battles the elements to rise…..
Rise it does!
Through the open window the sound of the morning lark, trumpets a new beginning.

When Love Comes A'calling

I thinklove's like a stranger
who beckons at your door..
To let him in will change your life
now and forever more….

This Hand

It feels so small and fragile
the fingers lithe and long.
Translucent skin like gossamer,
a hand once warm and strong.

Surrender

I heard it repeating,
that voice in my ear,
and wondered once more
if redemption was near.
