The Women I Fancied

The women I fancied many years ago
Like me must be ageing as time is our foe
Perhaps I would not recognize them if I met them today
With age faces seem to change as time does tick away
Good memories of them today with me remain
And on my flights of fancy I see them again
On Summer evening in the park of Millstreet Town
Walking as they laugh and chat just before sundown
My teenage love crushes quick to fade in time
To me just a memory by my physical prime
Perhaps some of them in Millstreet did stay
And many of them are grandmothers today
And of the past memories are all we have to retain
Of what used to be but will not be again.
