They Have A Burning Inside Them

They Have A Burning Inside Them

They have a burning inside them
They sit under the winter tree
And talk of the thunderous summer
Though their heart is made of fire
It melts in the delicate heat of ice
Penguins play ski on the oceanic track
Polar bears dance on the igloo roof
They look at the moon of mist
When frozen stars drift away in eternal black
Chill, we’ll kill you
They promise
At last they are lost in the memory of cool vapour
Hailstorm devastates the dream of immortality
Yet they are, as
They have a burning inside them
A cool burning.
