Though Many The Road

Though many the road I've driven up and down
And I am one who has lived in many a town
I do feel like a stranger on every street
A stranger to everyone that I do meet
And every town I've lived in does seem much the same
Few know me or call me by my given name
I could be better known if I so choose to be
We are what we are that's how it seems to me
Even in the Townland that is my old Homeplace
Today I feel mine would be a stranger's face
I have not been back there for twenty three years
Though for what once was I don't have any tears
But I hope to live on for as long as I can
And to die without pain as a very old man.
