Thoughts In The Summer Heat

A soul not nourished by faith and trust,
Like soil and water, soon turns to dust.
A heart not warmed by love and belief,
Like parching grass, longs for relief.

And thoughts given over to darkness and gloom,
Cannot flourish and grow; cannot ever bloom.
Each of us must listen; each must hear
God's gentle rain of promise that removes
All fear.
For a mind stayed on self cannot truly cope
Unless turned to the Lord for guidance and hope.
