Three Scholarly Virtues, One Enigmatic Faith

Poem By Rafael Cazares

Know-
that in my head
I could never figure
the Way of Today.

Accept-
that the sporadic, fierce patterns
of the flux,
is the crux,
Our lantern,
Our sought after enlightenment.

Understand-
that Corruption is best
when it breeds no burdens,
and Ignorance deft
when you become
your own Servant.

Hope-
that what has been said
is of a deaf world mocked with laughter to death,
Or resembles a Sphinx,
whose riddles are meaningless
& smiles with a wink.
