Time's Last Exit

Poem By Tom j. Parker

How many years have passed since we last spoke
Now we are old and tired
I think of the way your smile affected me
it took me places I had never known
Sometimes I feel estranged from those distant times
and I wonder how you feel, embraced by newness
But now the sun shines brightly
even in these distant lands I can feel your presence
How slight is the hand of misfortune
and how heavy is the burdened shoulder
soon we will meet again
and join hands for the last time
that can be the only outcome
of this unsatisfactory departing
