Timesong 02 Now Then
By the time that you hear me,
by Stewart McKenzie
I spoke in your past.
When I hear your reply,
You in mine.
The image you see of me left me -
How long ago?
Not long, but a while,
Unless light brings the moment.
Time present, the gift of light.
A pretty conceit.
So what is my now to you but codes of vibrations?
Electrical echoes of then?
And what, then, is your now to you?
For each point of existence a singular now,
By nature impossible to share,
From which distance in space is distance in time,
And all else is elsewhen and elsewhere.
