To The Gift Of Life

To the gift of life the toasting glass I raise
And these simple verses I pen in life's praise
The Winter is here and the sky may be gray
Still 'tis good to be alive on a day like today
I know an old bloke he is ninety four
One can say of him that his best days are o'er
But he shuffles down to the park every day
And isn't life great he has been known to say,
The celebrity in his twenties he committed suicide
His dislike of life is the reason he died
He did not love life that does seem sad to say
And now all is dark and peaceful where he lay
And though many years have passed since I was a boy
I still do love life and life I enjoy.
