Too Hot The Eye Of Heaven Shines

TOO HOT THE EYE OF HEAVEN SHINES

the hawk
watches the lovers
'...too hot the eye of heaven...'

no sound
just the silence
roaring

a sea of trees
splashing against
the toe of the mountain

the trees
running down to the lake
in the sun

the lake
bathing
in the sun

the sun
sinking in the lake
lovers dive deeper

she runs and runs until
she is just...
a distant dot

and when she is just
a distant dot then
she runs back into my kiss

her shadow sneaks out of
the back of her heels
only to be caught on a wall

the fire spits sparks
smell of apple wood
on its breath

disgruntled embers
stirring to life again
with a mouthful of twigs
