Too Much Nasty Poetry

Poem By Mary Nagy

I don't like nasty limericks.
I don't like vulgar words.
I'd rather write of better things,
like maybe watching birds.

So many poets feel the need
to write such graphic things.
The art of poetry to me
is making words that sing.

It's easy to be nasty.
It takes no brain at all.
But I can't keep from wondering
where you get the gall.

My poems may not be ''genius''.
I'm sure they don't compare
to many other writer's work
but mine, I like to share.

No matter if you're ninety
or if you're only nine
you needn't feel ashamed to click
on poetry that's mine.

your right but some times its ok to show a vulgar display of power I like this one Super
Excellent, and I couldn't agree more. Well said. A 10 from me. Shannon
mary I totally agree with every word you wrote. Why do people when there writing come up with the word F-.There are people that write poems with that word in them, we read them and maybe we understand because we are poets, but children don't. There is some good classic poetry around with that word in it, that I can understand. because it has been there all the time But when I read a limeric with the continus use of that word, just to get a laugh. This is when I see red. A poem to make people sit up and think about what they write. I see someone has used the word on the bottom of your page. I love the poem a real good topic to talk about. Cheers Sylvie
Paul, Your poetry was not the sole inspiration for this poem. I agree, we write what we see and how we see it. I've read much of your poetry...Many poems I like, some are not my taste. You do lots of good work though. Best Regards, Mary
Amen to that sweet prayer...
