Torn In Two

Lessons learned from books that burned
Every day our world has turned
Nothing new is ever found
Hopeless battle for high ground

Them or us or enemy within
Templar Knights or Hashishin
Terror tactics, market traders
Freedom fighters or crusaders

Is it secret, is it riddle
On the edge or in the middle
Blind in light or blind in dark
Lucky strike or maker's mark

Sons of god but suns are many
Blood is thick but ten-a-penny
Every mother, wife and daughter
Cheering them unto the slaughter

Only sure of birth and death
Gasping for a sacred breath
Dying in the day and night
In between the black and white

Is it secret, is it riddle
On the edge or in the middle
Blind in light or blind in dark
Lucky strike or maker's mark

Deep in thought or running blind
Leaving everything behind
Rushing to the holy heart
As the earth just falls apart

Clutching for the final straw
Was it always meant for you
Terror sends you reeling as
Your world again is torn in two
