Trust And Believe
Somewhere inside the festered wound
by Jo Lynn Ehnes
I lost my virgin trust in men.
Amidst the bleeding from the cuts
belief was gouged from deep within.
Although my faith's been victimized
my heart still longs to find a mate.
A man whose touch will fade the scars
and open wide the healing gate.
How can I recognize his face
when lack of credence fills my soul?
What must I do to reaffirm
and lose mistrust which has control?
I'll wrap the quilt of purity
around my spirit plagued by doubt,
then start the slate of love anew
and let devotion's geyser spout.
