Upon Her Arrival

O you, my vessel of love
You did bring the foam of wave
In my hushed sea

O you, capturing the molten fabric
From my bosom with thy liquefaction
You did mesmerize me with thy magic

A heart; so lonesome
And a secret; so sepulchered
How did you sing?
With such a gentle zing?

You did know the unlettered
Lore of my jilted soul!
Your words stirred a whale of passion
And, swelled into torrents as they roll.

What did you pluck?
In this thickening twilight?
When I was playing,
A cruel game with my luck!

Did you waltz at that time?
Were the doors open for you?
