Water Of Life

water flowing
in mountains streams creeks rivers
water trickling
racing to fill ponds lakes oceans

water mist breath allowing
myriad life possibilities
water small droplets sowing
web of life potential diverse forms

without water there would
be no magnificient
earth life lusting swarms

vast planet wide oceans
filling teeming brimming
with species complexities

water vast percentages
of amazing cells
that strata comprise
all living organisms

water sustaining
growth creating
spun life webs
unique ecosystems

food all food
fresh has reserves
of water bound

within water is
our life liquid
requirement most

sustaining nurturing thing

have you not heard
that humans
can go without
food longer

than without
prime life requirement
fresh clean sweet
running water

news flash without
water all life would die
realize without

water we could
not even cry
water an important

part of vibrant
healthy cells
water cool sweet
waits flavours

community wells
water circulates
in myriad plants
to carry distribute

water circulates
in people to oxygenate

blood energies
water needed by dependent
earth life cycles

to survive

without elixir of life
water earth
will not be alive

enjoyed reading your poem Terence, thank you Alan
Your song is informed by fluidity of water. By following water we know ourselves to be interwoven with the life of Gaia. Water belongs to the extended body of cosmic man, because it is a nexus for the cosmic blueprint of life. Water outside of the human body is part of life, just as water inside the body is, because circulation marries inside to outside. All the components of life interact in the medium of water. Animate vs. inanimate is an artificial distinction when it comes to water. The constant jostling of water molecules nudges amino acids so they fit into their templates and join as chains. Water is the shepherd of lipids, repelling them so that they join as membranes. Water lets ions form gradients across membranes, then restores equilibrium in electrolytic pulses. Water suspends colloids at the edges of their phase boundary, so they are constantly forming and reforming. Water needs a hump of caloric energy to evaporate; it needs a hump of caloric energy to boil. It stores heat and transmits heat, but as ice it insulates. It has high surface tension but zero viscosity. There is no end of secret things that water does. It is simple in the sense that it is elemental, yet it gives itself to life in a multitude of ways. There is nothing random about the way water is.
Terence George Craddock, Your poem, (Water of Life) is a worthwhile theme to ponder. It is good to be thankful for a world which we know is designed so intricately within it's water dependence. Even we ourselves carry water within our every bodily system. Water binds and strengthens us and we know when we are aching for a cool drink of water. Bless you as you share thoughts, dreams, ideas with others and continue to question and think. We are human and that is what we do by design.............................Kathy
