We Travelled

We travelled into old age together
Supporting and encouraging each other
Rejoiced to see where eagles fly
And wildlife in abundance is free of man
Crossed flooded rushing rivers
Seas, passing through mystical lands.
We walked fearfully through the valley
Of the shadow of death with bold resolve
Were lost within the great engulfing forest
Where grief and misery abide
Tormenting the soul with despair
Trying to force our journey's end
But friendship kept us going forward
Coming safe and back into the light.
