We Travelled

We travelled friends into old age together
Supporting, encouraging each other
Rejoicing to see where eagles fly
Wildlife in abundance run free
Crossed flooded rivers, climbed mountains
Passing joyful through golden mystical lands.
Walked fearfully through dark valleys
Lost our way within an engulfing forests
Tormenting our souls with despair
Trying to force our journey to a bitter end.
But love kept us moving forward
Emerging safe and into the light.
