What I Am

Poem By Divya John

A defiant moment of regret
An inexplicable frame of mind
A shocking shame and blame
An aura of doom undid me.

My heart swayed in its orbit
I smelt the spilt-over blood.
Bewildered I was to find
That spilt-blood maintained my being.

My eyeballs rolled in their orbit
I tasted the tears I shed.
Perplexed I was to learn
That shed-tears added salt to tongue.

My bones jerked in their orbit
I patted my torn muscles.
Baffled I was to notice
That torn-muscles sustained my being.

The real me moved in my orbit
I took in the pain and gain
Amazed I was to know
That these made me what I am.

Love got
Exposed thoughts
Like dense vapour
That did quiver

Hood(Wink) Ed

In the wee hours of the morn
Black-hooded cobras
Tied to a pole
Stretched their length out.
