What Would We Do Without God?

What would we do without God?
Without God our world would empty of its mysterious connections
Its hidden resonances would diminish
We would live in the clear glow of endless nothingness?

What we do without God
And without that hint of something far beyond what we can imagine?

Where would we be if left with physics and chemistry alone?
Low creatures of higher mind who could discern in intelligent formulas
Their own final demise
Who would not be blessed or know the sacred sounds
Of God’s music unknown-

Without God
We are just a string of particles waiting to be exploded
Nothing we would know
Would be holy enough to be saved.

'The words of the Teacher, [a] son of David, king in Jerusalem: 'Meaningless! Meaningless! ' says the Teacher. 'Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless.'' -Ecclesiastes 1: 1-2 Only God can bring meaning to us. So all that we can do is to 'Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.' (Ecclesiastes 12: 13) This poem is so meaningful.
What would we do? We'd make one up wouldn't we? It's what we do.
