When Autumn Comes

When autumn comes and smears the leaves
With summer's blood and rust
The fading sunlight turns the lives
To soon forgotten dust

When winter on the threshold stands
With waving dress, so white
Knocking softly at your door
Like Death's belovéd bride

Let in the princess, take a rest
From things 'gainst which you strive
For somewhere far away from here
You'll rise to a new life
