When She Left

Poem By Alfred Ramos

When she left
She took a huge part of me
Broke me down
Forced me to start over
She showed me I was not invincible
An arrow pierced into my weakness
She split me open
She split me deep
A scar resides in a solitary place
A pain so pure and true
Yet she showed me something rare
Something flowing through my veins
The flow of life keeps giving
Giving face of dreams to come
When she walked past me like a secret
Quietly hugging the shadows we created
The silence overwhelming, crushing
There we lost touch of reality
Didn’t recognize the flaws that dangled in the night
How we endured the pains of the seasons I don’t know
The love drug was an enigma
When she left, she took a weight off my shoulders
A numbness of conscience released
And our deeds spelled out a difference
Where subtraction becomes abstract
When she left
I became a handcuffed stranger to my senses
Love though intriguing
Provides but a kaleidoscope of the real world
When she left she took my utopia
And a door slammed shut

A Mother's Love

I held her hand as tight as I could
Even though I knew it would not do much good
Her breath was shallow and weak
If only my eyes could speak

***dead And Gone

I didn’t attend your funeral
I hated you that much
I did send roses
The thorns for you to touch

I Keep Telling Myself

I keep telling myself
That things will change
New ideas will rise for us to rearrange
Chaos will bury itself in red tape

There’s a little boy
A fragile tin soldier toy
I know who he is

Love Doesn’t Live Here Anymore

Love doesn’t live here anymore
It walked out and slammed the door
It packed it memories and faded photographs
It took its dreams, it took its laughs

When Love Is The Answer

Admit to your deepest desire
Know that your path is lined with fire
Crying will only get you so far
It won’t help you cleanse the scar
