When The Poem Came

WHEN THE POEM CAME

When the Poem came
I was dreaming of something else
I was singing in another universe
Suddenly like a knife
The poem cut my soul to silence
And I listened to its waiting
And knew that even if fictions lie
When they have the proper music
A poem has a soul of its own
That pretends to never die
