Where To Find The Monster

Just another shift
As I coast and drift
In my illusionary lift
My blood is black
My heart is stiff

Look back in time
Those cracks are mine
I'm the crooked line
And the rotten stench
Of sin and slime

Will I look in the mirror?
Will I see myself clearer?
Does truth have a deaf hearer?
So far away from it,
I hoped to be nearer

There's a question that's burning
As the fires keep churning
I hope to be learning:
What do you do,
When the monster is you?

Very interesting poem. Liked the rhyme structure and the wording to it. Gets one thinking too. Good job. Sincerely, Connie Webb
