Whereever Forever Is
(15/07/56 / Curragh Camp, Co. Kildare, Eire.)

Whereever Forever Is

Death came
& wrapped
you in itself.
Your eyes
gazed into his

remaining hidden
from the world of men.
I remained outside
of wherever forever is
crying to be let in.
“There is no door
to be let in
and even your own death
is somewhere else

longing to
become you.”
A cry of birds
told a sunset
that told me

but my soul
transform into tears
sought you and sought you out
found you
among the shadows
of shadows
where light has no voice.

Trading part of my soul
bribing pain & loss
I managed to
smuggle you out
in words
stained with
the memory of you.

Each day I re-arrange
the same words
always the same words
and with their emptiness
attempt to
re-create you.
