Who And What Am I?

The string on your bow, rang a tune
as your silken hand released the tension
An arrow in flight to start the revolution
The silent cries of fallen soldiers
that history will not mention

tremble the marrows of men and trees
rattle the cages and set them free
You think I don't feel
you think I don't see
But one of your arrows
broke into me
And released the sweet sap
Invaded by a colony of ants
Who feasted on my maple syrup

Once the gun smoke settles
and your bickering stops
once your fallen have been swallowed by the earth
and given life to the tree tops
I sleep in December
In June i'll remember
The day your bow rang a tune.
