Why Can'T You See?

Why can’t you see?
That I’m only a child,
Going into a world unknown,
To me,
Yet you pressure me,
Into doing things,
I can barley comprehend,
Why can’t you see?
That I’m only your daughter,
Yet you pressure me,
Into doing things,
I don’t want to do,
You don’t give me a choice,
You don’t care about my needs,
It’s only because we love you,
You say,
But if you love me so much,
Then why don’t I have a choice?
Why can’t you see?
That I’m only trying to please you,
Yet you smack me,
Every time I make a mistake,
How can you love me?
You have no heart,
Yet you say it’s for the best
Whom for the best?
Me or you?
I have no choice in the matter,
I’m used as a puppet,
For your own needs,
Never mine,
Why can’t you see?
That I’m tired of being used,
Forced around as if nothing,
Always forced,
Forced into doing your work,
Forced into being a slave,
Forced into covering my emotions,
Why can’t you see?
That I’m only a scared child,
Going into a place unknown to me,
Yet you pay no heed,
To my desperate cries,
You say I’m only a child,
That I need to be whipped into shape,
Why can’t you see?
That I’m not the child I once was,
Now I’m a puppet,
Only used for your needs,
Why can’t you see?
That I’m only your daughter,
Scared of my own flesh and blood,
Why can’t you see?
That I’m dieing inside,
Dieing of what you’ve done to me,
Why can’t you see?
That I’m only a child,
Barely understanding,
What it means to be happy,
You say I’m a child,
When the only child here is you,
I’m no longer a child,
I’m an angel.

Oh my goodness, I relate to those words of your so well, and I didn't even realize that I felt that way towards my mom until I read this poem! ! It's beautiful; purely lovely.
