' Why My Room Can'T Be A Garden '

Poem By Riquetta Elliott

Why my bed can't be a
Laying green or red shape
Beauty?

Why my dressers can't be
A juiced red of health?

Why my desk can't be talled
Tree of oranged taste?

Why my floor can't be a
Splashed grape to swim or thirst?

Why my wall can't be stand of greens?

Why my room can't be a garden?
Why it can't be my nature?
Why it can't be my paradise?
Why it can't be my castle?

Why my room can't be a garden?
Why it can't be my nature?
Why it can't be my paradise?
Why it can't be my place or my privacy to be alone?

Why my room can't be a garden?
I ask tell why?
