Wild Life

Here at the ivory cabin by
the gumbo limbo trees,
I watch the reddish bark peel
while sipping lemongrass tea

Pink mandevilla climbs,
as green ferns flourish;
blossoms fall like scarlet,
yellow and purple snow

Between the shores of marsh and
ocean, soon the aloe will flower
orange in the sun; meanwhile
turkey vultures circle above.
