William Shatner

Chaos in a bottle
poured onto the floor
in the image of a man
coming through the sliding
door.

There's a God on the brig,
a man in flourescent light,
with a grin that's getting big,
and a goal within his sight.

'Has been? '
'You calling me a Has been? '

He's a mirror on the wall,
like a magnet in the sphere,
and he's effervescent love,
and he's saying loud and clear,
'What's your name? '

'Jack...'

Never done Jack...
He has the opposition to his back,
their shoulders have gone slack,
but he never sails off track.

'Captain...'

On his ship, across the sky,
he's a sight for soaring eyes,
and he has omnicience over the other
flies,
and he bows to their fictional battle
cries...

Then he wakes, and he shakes,
as the stars fall...and the sun breaks.
'But I'm an entertainer and that's all...'
'And while there's a part of me, in that
guy you've seen, up there on that screen...
I am so much more...'

Chaos in a bottle
poured onto the floor
in the image of a man
coming through the sliding
door.

An image on the screen,
with an unearthly playschool gleam,
and he isn't what he seems...
an entertainer...
in his dreams.
