Poem By Leila Ired

Where is God?
Though I do not seek
a heavenly Father or impersonal Force
my being shrinks from the heart bereft
the wounds wide open
the scars he left.

And though I long not for
an Intercessor
I do confess I fly from sin
from retribution
from the Devil within.

So if I'm searching
for some divine
truly, then, it must be for love
the heartstrings' humming
the soul held above.

Though I may never find
this pure untainted
fearless, painless,
holy heaven of my heart
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
I sing the song of angels.
