You always asked me what i wished for
And you gave me three wishes
As if you were the evening star
Or a brown leprechaun
Or a strange sort of genie
As if you had the power
To make them come true

And I always hid
My answers
In philosophical rigmarole

We wished on eyelashes
Yours and mine
Long, dark and curling

We wished and I never told

I wished you happy
No matter what
And I wished so dearly
That we would work out

I wished
I was wishing right
I wished I was beautiful
Or satisfied with my looks
And I asked for success

And for wishes to come true
