Bowery Blues

Poem By Jack Kerouac

They would wish to receive their crisis not so crisp.
With just a bit of honesty...
That doesn't overflow with it.

Some say his truthfulness is too abrupt.
Too effective to resist.
And they want him to give this up!

Creamed filled truths...
Dripping to lick as they please.
Is what they want to hear from him.
Not the reality of a deepening economic squeeze.

These folks would rather get...
Something that is addressed,
With less directness!
