Worn Little Church

It is old and in disrepair
But for many years was strong
Folks gathered within its walls
As they sang sweet holy songs

The sound of hearts so raw
Bringing forth in melody
All reaching right up to God
He was there to hear and see

So beautiful and heartfelt
A time folks remember still
As this worn little church
Its parishioners no longer fill

It is sad in so many ways
That its usefulness is through
It can be proud forever more
Though its doors now sit askew

But an owl nestles within
So it isn’t totally empty
The beauty will always be there
For everyone to see

As I drive past I always smile
Remembering so many Sundays
Though nothing has really changed
For it sits amongst God’s trees!
