You Can Still Count On Your Fingers

This world is an endless puzzle, that's true.
We go through life trying to figure out what to do.
Just to make life for us a whole lot better.
While we follow the rules right to the letter.
We always look for something on which to depend.
And usually are somewhat short out at the end.
To count on something solid seems to be our aim.
I guess there are ways we can do it in this game.
But if we fall short the thought still lingers.
The one thing you can count on is your fingers.

When we miss our mark we go down the tube.
It's a game where you sometimes look like a cube.
There's sure one rule which applies to us all.
But if you miss it you are in for a big fall.
You scratch your head and try another tack.
You know from where you stand you can't turn back.
You need something that will surely work for you.
But in case you fail that old thought still lingers.
The one thing you can count on is still your fingers.
